Energizing Lean at Itron

In 2024, Itron desired to embark on a global formal lean program to take our company to the next level. As a large, global company we have many approaches to lean. Each site and function is at a different spot on their journey. Using the collaboration bridge through our Global Lean Continuous Improvement development, access to standard tools, application support & standard metrics, we are strengthening our culture of Lean across our businesses. At Oconee, we have developed Tiered Daily Accountability based on Lean Leadership foundation of visual management, daily discussions, gemba and leader standard work. We have also rolled out a 5S+Safety program utilizing theFunTheory across all 1500 employees to establish energy around lean and fundamental habits/practices of lean. Our 2025 focus is about developing a learning organization focused on problem solving. All associates are being developed in basic problem-solving techniques and becoming more engaged in kaizen blitz improvements. This visit will include an overview of strategy, the daily accountability/gemba efforts, some of the kaizen improvements and a discussion with peers in the plus/delta session.
